Yeah, Astamon didn't have much screentime (sadface), and Psychemon had even less than his evolved form. In fact, I think Keramon had more time onscreen than this fluffball, and he wasn't even around for a full episode!
Then again, the plot to this season is looking more and more like a bad fanfiction with every new episode, so should we really be surprised?
It's my curse to love underrated characters. I don't care about Psychemon, but Astamon had moments of coolness which were more than enough for me to like him. Yes, I would love to see him more developed like the past rival digimons from the previous seasons but the problem is that TOEI screwed in this season for teh fucking nostalgia fanservice.
Hell, I'd rather have Ryouma and Astamon as the main characters. Screw this fire dino/dragon digimon as the lead character thing they've been using for the past five seasons. It's gotten rather old.
Next season they should have Phascomon/Astamon as the lead digimon, with Digimon like Kotemon, Keramon, Monodramon and Bearmon as the other main characters. Would it kill them to think outside the box for once?
As for this nostalgia fanservice, here's a thought Toei should have considered: this show isn't about the humans, it's called DIGIMON for a reason.
I wouldn't be completely against good-old digimon like WarGreymon, Veemon, Guilmon, etc. showing up (but not Agunimon. That season never should have happened as far as I'm concerned). They're human Digidestined partners/tamers/Data Squad partners? Like I said, poorly written fanfiction material.
Oh Toei screwed this up so badly too. I was just baffled with who they revived in the last episode with no bloody explanation whatsoever. I mean, what the hell?
Lilithmon is doing backflips in her grave right now. Backflips I tell you!![/rant rant rant]
